100-word stories (July 2010)
“Let’s get moving!” The leader of the little green army men jumped down from the bucket and started walking (read: waddling) toward the leader of the little blue army men. They met, shook hands, then took their little AK-47s, and pointed them at each other’s heads. Their respective armies of little army men came to the same area, found someone to hold up their guns too, and soon the whole area had a silence that was never heard before. Then, all the green men fired their AK-47s before the blue men, but the blue leader destroyed green leader. Oh well.
As I get off the train at Grand Central Station, my shoe gets stuck on a piece of gum. Annoying, I think, as it makes a noise when I walk. I cannot figure out how to get rid of the gum. Eventually I saw a Chinese fast-food restaurant and asked for a pair of disposable chopsticks. The lady at the counter gave me chopsticks. I sit on a chair and start picking the gum off. When I was done, I swept the chopsticks into a trash can and continued on my way. Then more gum get stuck on my shoe.
Kevin enjoyed using his mom’s computer to take funny pictures of himself with an application called Photo Booth. When he finished taking his photos his mom would help him print out the photos on the Konica C451 in the Nueva Library. They would put three staples into the left side of the pages. After that, the first thing Kevin would do was put his name and the title to his book. Then he would take a purple marker from the marker bin and start writing his story. Resplendent in a 5-year olds handwriting, he shares his story with the class.
My computer is awesome. The Asus Eee PC 1005HA is probably one of the better netbooks out there for the ratio of awesome/functional to money. It has a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor, a 6-cell battery that lets it run for 6 hours, Windows XP SP3, and many other features. Among those features is ‘Super Hybrid Engine’ from Asus that lets you unleash the full power of the included 1 GB of RAM during Super-Performance mode, a relatively high-power setting with High-Performance mode, and a Power-Saving mode. This is what makes my computer the best out there on the market.
